Purpose
Aaron Baker is One in a Million, a living example that with passion, commitment, determination, love and support, anything is possible. In Aaron’s own words, “all we have is time and love.”
Madeira Entertainment presents Project One in a Million, a multi-faceted movement, a catalyst for change that will create a paradigm shift in the world of disability and chronic illness by shifting the perception of possibility from adaption and degeneration to regeneration, mobility, independence and self-efficacy. It will inspire all individuals with or without chronic conditions to embrace the Power of Possibility in their own lives and become healthier more vibrant members of society. It will encourage legislative change that will require the medical system to provide restorative therapeutic exercise for all individuals challenged by debilitating injuries and/or chronic illnesses. Project One in a Million will redefine the mass perception of “disability” from one of broken human beings to empowered champions that will result in the creation of a new word for disability.
The universal appeal of Project One in a Million is that we are all affected by disabling or limiting conditions or beliefs that keep us from living our best life and that anyone can overcome this by simply embracing the Power of Possibility.
Project One in a Million will reach its goals in the following ways:
2011 Rise Above Tour
Aaron and his mother, Laquita rode cross-country on a tandem bike in their 2007 Rise Above Tour to spread the message of the Power of Possibility, and to raise awareness about the need for restorative exercise facilities (C.O.R.E.). In 2008 they made their second cross-country trip, with Aaron riding a specially designed trike under his own power.
The 2011 Rise Above Tour is a four-month coast-to-coast live-streamed broadcast event that will launch Project One in a Million. The purpose of the tour is to create a buzz about what it means to be One in a Million and to engage Americans to Rise Above their own physical and mental limitations through exercise.
Aaron and Laquita will cross America stopping in 40 cities to spread the message about the Power of Possibility. Americans will be invited to cycle with them on their way into and out of each city. During the tour, Team OM will be searching for more One in a Million individuals, whose outstanding stories will be featured on the website. Americans who are ready to Rise Above their own limitations will be offered a chance to participate in the future 2011 One in a Million Challenge.
2011 One in a Million Challenge
The 2011 One in a Million Challenge will be a host-driven network television event, led by One in a Million Aaron Baker. The show will engage average Americans to cycle with Aaron from coast to coast across America. The criteria for cast members will be individuals who have a limitation, disability or challenge that is preventing them from living their best life that they are now ready to overcome. Those who successfully complete the challenge will become One in a Million. Participants will also be helping Aaron train for the 2012 Paralympics by cycling with him from coast to coast. Thus, America is going to help Aaron Baker bring home the gold!
2012 Paralympics
Aaron is training to compete in the cycling category of the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. He will be the first quadriplegic ever to compete in this event. Project One in a Million will document Aaron’s quest for gold through social media and a possible documentary or one hour television docu-drama.
One in a Million Television Series
One In a Million is a one-hour docu-reality series that will transform the lives of three individuals each week.
Aaron Baker and his mom Laquita are mavericks who never accepted the status quo of medical diagnoses for quadriplegia. Because of their defiance, and their belief that anything is possible, Aaron is walking today. For more than ten years, they have been inspiring thousands of people nationwide to Rise Above their own imaginable goals.
In each episode the team will enter into the lives of three individuals: one newly injured person, one who’s just completed rehab and been sent home to adapt to his/her condition and one individual facing challenges outside of disability, such as someone dealing with obesity, diabetes, depression, heart disease or a cronic sedentary lifestyle. Together Team Aaron and Laquita will motivate each one to Rise Above their own limitations, resulting in three amazing outcomes.
This is more than wish-fulfillment television. One in a Million is life-changing engagement that will entertain and encourage viewers to embrace the Power of Possibility in their own lives, by utilizing the tools provided to motivate them into becoming active participants in life.
Viewers will experience the remarkable, heartwarming journeys to recovery, resulting in mobility, renewed hope, and physical, mental and emotional progress for all participants.
C.O.R.E.
(Center of Restorative Exercise)
According to the 2006 U.S. Census, one in five Americans has a disability. Since 2006, with the rising popularity of extreme sports, more youth are becoming injured. Within the growing population of disability and chronic illness there exists a great demand for preventative, restorative health and wellness programs.
C.O.R.E. is a state-of-the-art facility that will provide lifestyle enhancement programming for special populations. The base philosophy of C.O.R.E. is that restorative therapeutic exercise is an absolute necessity in the management and improvement of debilitating injuries or chronic illness. It will also provide education to help improve function, independence and self-efficacy. C.O.R.E.’s legacy will be the growing number of challenged individuals who rise above their limiting conditions. Another measure of success will be the reduction in the dependence on pharmaceuticals, the creation of a healthier society with an overall reduction in medical costs.
Project One in a Million intends to have at least one C.O.R.E. facility in every major city worldwide by 2020.
