RECOVERY & REDEFINITION:
NOTE: For the first 3 years of this recovery process Aaron was completely dependent (Aaron needed full assistance with all activities of daily living i.e. bathing, feeding, dressing and moving)
Weaned off ventilator (breathing machine)
Wiggled painted toes
Aquatic Therapy movements (swimming pool)
Sitting and Standing (standing frame) with FULL Body bracing against gravity
Control electric, motorized wheelchair independently
Mothers birthday hug (VERY slight, single arm)
Standing and Step with FULL Body bracing and assistance from therapists
Grew hair long until walked (FULL Body bracing, four-wheel walker & assistance) out of acute rehabilitation hospital (apprx. 100 steps)
Increased standing and stepping ability (independently) in aquatic therapy (swimming pool)
Fathers day hug (stronger, both arms)
Pedaled stationary Recumbent bicycle (strapped to pedals)
Improved independent stepping within parallel bars (on land)
Systematically reducing trunk, hip, knee and ankle bracing (on land)
Decreased walking aids i.e.: Four wheeled walker, walker, arm crutches, four point cane, single point cane (on land)
Pedaled Upright stationary bicycle
NOTE: All subsequent milestones were achieved based on the continued assistance (from mother Laquita) facilitating energy management, an optimal healing environment (home) and daily Restorative Exercise with Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Taylor Isaacs).
